Methodology

Human connection, relationships, and the art of relating

Arrow downArrow down

My work is informed and influenced by two main approaches to connection, relationships and relating.

Nonviolent Communication  (NVC) as developed by Dr. Marshall Rosenberg. and Emotionally Focused Therapy EFT - based on the science of Attachment Theory and research initiated by John Bowlby - in relation to the mother-child bond, and later on in the marital and family bond - as developed by Dr. Sue Johnson and other.

I have found the combination of the knowledge and practice of these two approaches useful and beneficial in bringing awareness of “how we operate in the world”, connecting us to our deepest emotions and needs, and finding new secure pathways to communicate to the closest people in our lives.

The process

The first stage is undoubtedly creating a safe, empathic space for my clients, where they can feel understood, loved and accepted as they are now. Slowly and surely we begin to unravel the knots, dissolving “the barriers to love” that the poet Rumi spoke of. We begin to gain trust that our feelings and needs matter.

Lastly we consolidate our newfound ways of relating, gradually becoming more confidant of our place in our marriages and families, and as an extension, in our worlds.

I invite you with all my heart to embark on this healing journey together, and find that, in the words of Marcel Proust
“the real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes” - and I might add, healed hearts.
