Embracing the Spiral: Rediscovering Movement in Personal Growth

August 20, 2024

In the realm of personal development, it often feels like we're stuck or regressing. Yet, this perception is merely an illusion. True progress moves in spirals, not straight lines, mirroring the natural world's rhythms.

Recently, I rediscovered this truth. Even when I find myself in the depths of stress or depression, having the right tools makes all the difference. It's about making the smallest movements—whether it's appreciating something in the present moment, acknowledging my efforts, or identifying the unmet need behind my feelings.

As a perfectionist, I used to believe I had to constantly embody certain qualities—positivity, compassion, self-awareness, integrity. But that's an unrealistic expectation, setting us up for failure. Embracing "good enough" as a standard is cause for celebration in itself. Time may be fleeting, but we can always reconnect with the joyful, creative essence that propels us forward in life.

This realization drives my work. I help couples and individuals take baby steps in the direction reigniting the inner spark and reconnecting with your essence and your significant other’s.

The flower in the photo, taken in Hyde Park this week, reminds me of this lesson. It doesn't strive to be more; it simply is.
